Family Intervention Specialists, Inc.
is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation
registered in the State of Georgia. We
provide CORE Services to Children and
Adolescents as well as CORE services to
Adults. We have clinicians in 20 counties in
the Metropolitan Atlanta area. We are also
a provider of intensive Family Intervention.
Intensive Family Intervention (IFI) is an
intensive family- and community-based
treatment that addresses multiple
determinants of serious antisocial behavior
in juvenile offenders. The approach of the
intensive family intervention views
individuals as being nested within a complex
network of interconnected systems that
encompass individual, family, peers, school,
neighborhood, and indigenous support
network. To facilitate change, intervention
may be necessary in any one or a combination
of these systems.
Family Intervention Specialists, Inc.
works with clients who have high
acuity mental health and substance abuse
issues. The focus is on co-occurring
disorders. All programs are research
based and outcome driven and include
Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST), Brief
Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT), the Matrix
Model for both Adult and Adolescent
substance abuse, the Nurturing Parent
program, Celebrating Families, Strengthening
Families and Positive Parenting with a Plan.
We practice Trauma-Focused Therapy (TFT). We
also have an EMDR therapist and a Certified
Play Therapist.
CORE Services:
These services include individual, family
and group therapies, nursing and psychiatric
assessments, medication management and other
community based mental health services. Our
main office is in Hiram, Georgia and we have
also have offices in Douglasville, Conyers
and Fulton Counties.
Family Intervention Specialists, Inc.
was founded in 1998 by David Anthony. In
2003, Family Intervention Specialists, Inc.
became an approved provider for Georgia Health
Partnership (Medicaid). In June 2004, Family
Intervention Specialists, Inc. became
certified by Department of Human Resources,
Compliance and Certification Unit. In
January of 2005, Family Intervention
Specialists, Inc. was recognized as the only
agency in the Southwest as a “Best Practice”
by the Center for Mental Health and Juvenile
Justice.
In November 2006, Family Intervention
Specialists, Inc. obtained a 3-year CARF
accreditation with an exemplary rating for
the Casey Life Skills Modules used in
adolescent groups, Community Support
Individual (CSI) and with Intensive Family
Interventions (IFI) services.
In May of 2006, Family Intervention
Specialists, Inc. partnered with the
Paulding, and Douglas County Juvenile Courts
to assist in the development of Family Drug
Dependency Court. In April of 2007 Family
Intervention Specialists, Inc., was
designated by the Department of Human
Resources as a CORE Provider of Mental
Health, Developmental Disabilities and
Substance Abuse
